[ARCHIVED] South Road School Vaccine Clinic Update

The regional COVID-19 vaccine clinic at South Road School is now focusing on second dose (“second shot”) administration, and is no longer administering first doses of the vaccine. The South Road School vaccine clinic was established to ensure the effective administration of vaccines to the region’s most vulnerable population, and those with high workplace exposures. The clinic has succeeded in accomplishing it’s mission.

To date, a total of 3,232 people have been vaccinated at the South Road School vaccine clinic, including over 1,950 South Kingstown seniors over the age of 75, over 1,282 first responders/healthcare providers, and 328 teachers.  Thanks to the Senior Center for registering 854 individuals for appointments.

The State of Rhode Island has determined that the next phase of the COVID-19 vaccination program can best be performed at a mass vaccination center, to be established in West Kingston on Fairgrounds Road.  This center, anticipated to open sometime in April, will be operated by the Rhode Island Army National Guard and will have the capacity to process 500 plus people per day.

Please visit the State’s COVID-19 vaccination page for more information about the vaccine, including how to make an appointment at a State vaccine center or local pharmacy, the State's weekly distribution plan, as well as the vaccine timeline for Rhode Islanders..

Thank you to everyone who made the South Road School COVID-19 vaccine clinic such a success. Wishing you all healthy days ahead!
