[ARCHIVED] New Building Official & Zoning Enforcement Officer Hired...

The Town Manager is pleased to announce that Wayne Pimental has been hired as the Town’s Building Official and appointed as the Town’s Zoning Enforcement Officer. Mr. Pimental began on March 25th, 2018 and will be responsible for the overall management and operations of the Town’s Building Inspection and Zoning Enforcement Department, and will be responsible for the public’s safety and the protection of property by researching, applying, and administering technical standards and other federal, state, and municipal law or regulatory requirements pertaining to building and land use. 

Mr. Pimental brings over thirty-five years of professional experience, having spent the last twenty-nine years in the Town of East Greenwich where he held the position of Building and Zoning Official since 2004. Mr. Pimental is an International Code Council (ICC) and State of Rhode Island Certified Building Official, a National Certified Floodplain Manager, the current President of the Rhode Island Building Officials Association, a member of the ICC Exam Development Committee for Certified Building Officials, a member of the State’s Building Code Standards Committee, a member of the State’s Rehabilitation Code Board of Appeals, and is the Chairman of the State’s Building Inspector Certification Committee. 

After conducting a regional search, Mr. Pimental was selected from a field of well qualified professionals. "Wayne is the right person for the job. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position. I am pleased to have him join our management team in the key leadership role," said Robert C. Zarnetske, Town Manager.
