Get a Library Card

The South Kingstown Public Library belongs to the Ocean State Libraries public library consortium consisting of 72 libraries.

Register for Library Card

To apply for an Ocean State Libraries (OSL) card, valid ID and proof of address are required. You may do this in person at any public library in Rhode Island, or online. The card is free of charge to Rhode Island residents. There is a $1 fee to replace a lost card.

Non-residents who own property in Rhode Island are also eligible for a free card. There is an annual fee of $155 for non-residents who wish to have borrowing privileges.


Children under 13 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian when applying for a card. Children 13 and older must have a photo ID with address or photo ID and additional proof of address (i.e. mail with their name and address on it).

Where You Can Use Your Card

You may use your card at any Rhode Island public library. You may also return OSL items at any other OSL library, regardless of where you took them out.
