Payments for tax and utility bills can be made via check, money order, cash, debit or credit card, or via BillPay from an individual’s financial institution.
Additionally, the Town of South Kingstown accepts quarterly tax payments for Real Estate and Tangible tax accounts via automatic (ACH) transfers. Payment can be issued from either a checking or statement savings account. This service is offered free of charge.
To enroll in the automatic tax payment program, the Tax Collector’s office requires a completed “AUTHORIZATION AGREEMENT FOR DIRECT PAYMENTS,” which must be accompanied by a voided check or statement of account from your financial institution. The completed form must be returned to the Tax Collector’s office: 180 High Street, Wakefield, RI 02879.
Your completed authorization form must be received no later than two weeks prior to the next quarterly due date. For authorization forms received after that date, automatic tax payments will begin with the next quarterly installment.
If a valid email address is included on the completed “Authorization Agreement” form, the Town will send an electronic reminder email, confirming the amount and date of the upcoming quarterly deduction, approximately 2 weeks prior to a scheduled withdrawal.
After enrolling in the automatic tax payment program, you will continue to receive a copy of your bill. If you have already enrolled in this service, you do not need to submit another authorization form each year; your automatic program will stay in effect until you request the service be discontinued.
