The Town of South Kingstown is partnering with the South County Branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence on its Healthy Places by Design project. In the Spring 2010, the Rhode Island Department of Health awarded the Town a $225,000 grant as part of its Healthy Places by Design initiative. The goal of the project is to support positive change in the Town through public engagement, program improvements, and incorporating community health policies into the Comprehensive Community Plan in order to promote active lifestyles in the community. The results of this project will be made available to the public as well as state officials to serve as model for other Rhode Island communities.
