Municipal Budget Program

Tax Rate

The Town Assessor has set the tax rates for the 2019-2020 fiscal year: The FY 2019-2020 property tax rate is $14.45 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation.  The school-related tax rate is $10.72 per thousand dollars of assessed value and the town-related tax rate is $3.73 per thousand dollars of assessed value. The FY 2019-2020 motor vehicle excise tax rate is $18.71 per thousand dollars of assessed value.  This rate has been frozen by the state since FY 1998.

Operating Budget

Town Council adopted the FY 2019-2020 Municipal Budget Program on April 29, 2019.  

The Town Manager’s Proposed FY 2019-2020 Municipal Budget Program was released as of March 1st.  The Town Council held work sessions to review the proposed operating budget:

  • Monday, March 4 at 6:30pm
  • Tuesday, March 5 at 6:30pm
  • Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30pm 
  • Wednesday, March 13 at 7:00pm with the School Committee.

The Town Council held an initial budget hearing with the School Committee on December 17, 2018 to discuss and solicit comments from the public relating to the general goals and objectives of the development of the FY 2019-2020 municipal and school budgets.

Capital Improvement Program

The Town Manager’s Proposed FY 2019-2020 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) has been released as of December 1st.  The Town Council held work sessions to review the proposed CIP on January 7th and on January 9th with the School Committee.

The Town Council held a public hearing and adopted the Fiscal Period FY 2019-2020 through FY 2024-2025 Capital Improvement Program on January 28, 2019.
