Volunteer Fire Department

The Town has two volunteer fire departments who proudly serve South Kingstown.  To learn more about how to volunteer with Union Fire District or Kingston Fire District, please visit their websites.
 

Union Fire District

The Union Fire District, established in 1883, provides fire emergency service, fire prevention programs and fire code enforcement for the majority of South Kingstown.

The Chief's Office is located at 131 Asa Pond Road in Wakefield, RI.

Stations include:

  • Station 3 Forest Fire
  • Station 4 Kingston
  • Station 5 Snug Harbor
  • Station 6 Tower Hill
  • Station 7 Matunuck

Kingston Fire District

The Kingston Fire District, established in 1923, provides heavy rescue, fire emergency service and fire code enforcement for the University of Rhode Island and the immediate surrounding village of Kingston.  The Station and the Chief's Office is located at 35 Bills Rd in Kingston, RI.

*Burn Permits*


Please note burn permits are not issued by Union Fire District or Kingston Fire District.  Burn Permits can be obtained directly from the Town by visiting the South Kingstown Public Safety Complex, located at 1790 Kingstown Road, Wakefield RI.
