Becoming a Licensed ISDS Inspector

Requirements


Prospective South Kingstown Inspectors must complete the Inspector Application and provide evidence that they have successfully completed the URI Cooperative Extension ISDS Inspection Course.

The Prospective Inspector Must Agree to:
  • Conform to the inspection and reporting requirements as set forth in the South Kingstown Onsite Wastewater Management Ordinance Exhibits 1 and 2.
  • Follow the criteria and procedures outlined in the "Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management's Septic System check-Up: The Rhode Island Handbook for Inspection."
  • Submit a completed, thorough inspection report showing diagrams with accurate swing ties. The white copy of the inspection report must be submitted to the Onsite Wastewater Management office no later than 5 business days after the inspection.
  • Sign only reports for inspections that they personally performed. Inspection duties cannot be assigned to others.
