Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Check

Effective January 1, 2011, The State of Rhode Island, under Rhode Island General Law 31-3.1-38, requires all vehicles that are model year 2001 or newer receive a check of the V.I.N. This "V.I.N. Check" can be performed at the South Kingstown Police Department for South Kingstown residents, businesses and dealerships.

To process a V.I.N. Check, South Kingstown residents, businesses and *dealerships need the vehicle, the title (or current registration if the title is being held by the lease or lien holder) and $10 cash or check (payable to the Town of South Kingstown). These items can be brought to the South Kingstown Police Department during the following times: Sunday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Car dealerships not located in the Town of South Kingstown can have a representative request a V.I.N. check as long as the vehicle is being registered to an address of a resident or business located in the Town of South Kingstown.
